PERSONAL and PROFESSIONAL BACKSTORY I feel I am one of the lucky ones. I grew up in Coastal North Carolina where living the “Salt Life” was a reality. Our family enjoyed outdoor life of boating and the beach. We fished on weekends and oft times during the week; Both with lines and nets. We also tilled a sizeable vegetable garden as my mother had grown up on a farm in Bettie. At the time, I wanted more than a small town could offer so I began to travel. I earned a BA degree in Mass Communications /Public Relations and my career took me from North Carolina to California and New Jersey and later to Maryland and Virginia. I focused on building my PR career in insurance/ financial services, professional services, nonprofit, entertainment, and real estate fields. I further expanded my expertise and skills in finance, contracts, negotiation, marketing, and communications. In 2012, I moved my public relations firm – Mainsail Communications -- to North Carolina and began living the Salt Life again in Carteret County. Deciding that life was good eating seafood and fresh veggies, I took advantage of farmers’ markets and farm stands. I joined several organizations and was asked to serve on nonprofit boards – all the time learning more about the area I called home once again. This led me to helping others also learn more about our Crystal Coast. I became a volunteer Ambassador for the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce. Realizing that I loved selling our wonderful lifestyle, I ventured back into an earlier love -- Real Estate. I formed a company and got started. Today I am Fran Pigott Harding Real Estate. I’m also involved in my community and support the work of several nonprofit organizations — such as Carteret County Nonprofit Network, Stardust Startup Factory, the Carteret County Food Network, Beaufort Woman’s Club and Beaufort Garden Club. My Public Relation background serves me well as I support the work of these important organizations. I have two children and four stepchildren and lots of grandchildren.
